I have been seeing snail products slowly popping up everywhere. While there are people who love it. There are still people who can’t stand within 10 feet of a snail product. Me…? Well, ever since trying out Cosrx Snail Mucin and Naruko Snail Essence Mask {read review here} I have been addicted to snail products. In this post I will be reviewing the Nature Republic Snail Mask. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes the viscosity of the mask still weirds me out. It might seem a little strange at first, but it is rewarding. Snail products are amazing for their skin-repairing nature. They help repair acne scars, smooth skin, clear skin, soothe stressed skin from the external environment and hydrate the skin. Basically a miracle ingredient. With so many skin-repairing benefits from snail mucin, it is no surprise it is one of the first ingredients I reach for when my skin needs a little help. Sometimes when I accidentally over exfoliated my skin, I get little pimples everywhere and even dry patches of skin. When this happens, I immediately reach for snail products. Although I usually use my favorite Naruko snail mask, I somehow found another snail mask in my stash. It was the Nature Republic Snail Solution Mask Sheet. Nature Republic is not a brand I hear a lot about. Whenever I walk past my local Nature Republic I never have the urge to go in My sister did mention their hair product is pretty good . One thing that caught my eye, was the glaringly obvious use of k pop celebrities. They even give out loyalty stamp cards with your favorite member of EXO on the back. I had to go into my local nature republic store because their official site didn’t have any information on this particular mask, Nature Republic Snail Mask. Weirdly enough they still carried the mask in stores, but online they didn’t. From what saw from the actual store, I saw lots of different mask with similar packaging. One had a higher concentration and one was in a hydrogel format. This particular Nature Republic Snail Mask one contains 2,000ppm of snail filtrate and isn’t the hydrogel one. What the Nature Republic Snail Mask looked like The Nature Republic Snail Mask looked like any other mask you usually see in the market. Nothing special or notable. The mask is a thin cotton mask not too flimsy but still stretchable. What I thought about the Nature Republic Snail Mask From my past experience with Naruko snail mask, I was expecting a slippery and slimy mask. I remember opening the Naruko snail mask the first time, I was amazed by the viscosity of the essence. When I touch the Naruko mask little strings of essence would stick to my finger, the picture below The viscosity of Naruko’s Snail Mask The Nature Republic Snail Mask, however, was neither slippery or slimy. The mask basically felt like a normal mask, the essence felt almost like water. Although the texture was a bit different from my favorite snail mask, it was not the texture of the mask that bothered me. The Naruko snail mask you could be wearing for 1 hour or even longer and the mask would still stick to your face. However, the Nature Republic mask stopped sticking in 30 minutes. You can tell all the essence has either absorbed into the skin or most likely evaporated into the air. Results Looking at the before and after, you can barely see any difference. My skin looked a bit brighter in the after picture, other than that I saw and felt no difference in my skin. Quick side note Although it seemed like the Naruko Snail mask has more snail filtrate, does it really? I tried searching for the answer but I couldn’t find how much snail filtrate was in the Naruko one. However, if you compared the ingredient list of each mask and the snail filtrate is the 4th ingredient in the Nature Republic Mask while it is the 14th ingredient for Naruko Snail Mask. Although the snail filtrate is higher in the Nature Republic it does not really mean much. For all, we know the Nature Republic might be 98% water and only of snail filtrate, while Naruko might have more. I’m not sure. But it is entirely possible, that the Nature Republic snail mask might have more snail filtrate than the Naruko snail mask. Conclusion Despite my love for snail products, this particular snail mask, Nature Republic Snail Mask was underwhelming. Compared to my holy grail Naruko Snail mask, the snail mask from Nature Republic just didn’t cut it. I saw and felt no difference after using this mask. I only tried the lowest concentration, so the higher concentration might be more effective and more comparable to my favorite snail mask, Naruko Snail Essence Mask.
